The 9 miles between Reading and Henley-on-Thames are once again rural and tranquil.  After passing the technology office park in Reading the path goes through Sonning and then Lower Shiplake villages.  As at August 2026 the Marsh Lock footbridge is still closed between Lower Shiplake and Henley.  In its place there is a rather unsatisfactory path diversion from Shiplake centre up through the beech woods to Harpsden and along the road into Henley where it rejoins the river bank at the Henley end of Marsh Lock.  This diversion will probably continue well into 21027.
