CHILTERNS NUBA SURVIVAL
The Nuba Survival sculpture was created by John Buckley (of Headington Shark fame) after he stayed for a year with the Nuba Rehabilitation Relief and Development Organisation in the mountains of southern Sudan in 2001/02. Years of fighting had left the Nuba people fighting for survival. John Buckley made this sculpture to highlight their plight. It can be found in a field by a derelict barn near Checkendon in the Chilterns.
